Feeding the people of the World with solar energy
Community Centers & Tent Cities around the World need to have one of these units.

The VILLAGER SUN OVEN® is the only manufactured commercial solar oven in the world. Over 1,200 meals a day can be cooked or hundreds of loaves of bread can be baked powered by the sun. Ovens are growing in popularity and are now used in more than 40 deforested counties in a variety of applications:

The Villager Solar Oven on Trailer

School feeding programs
Community feeding
Retreat centers
Refugee programs
Emergency relief
Missions compounds
Hospitals (Cooks food for staff and patients and
sterilize medical instruments.)
In some cases the same VILLAGER SUN OVEN® can be used to serve a number of purposes. In Haiti orphanages use them to cook food for the children. In addition, they bake bread that they sell to generate income. The children are able to learn a usable job skill of making bread and the orphanage benefits from the additional income and money they save not purchasing cooking fuel.

Empowering the less fortunate through Sun-Bakeries micro-enterprise offers opportunities to reduce poverty and to enhance the quality of life for generations to come.

The VILLAGER SUN OVEN® is available with a 150-piece Sun-Bakery package. This turnkey package bakery enables the creation of a self-sustaining enterprise to turn out fresh baked goods, while creating jobs and eliminating the cost of fuel.

Although homelessness is a difficult number to measure definitively, it seems that more people—especially families are sleeping in shelters, living in their cars, and taking up residence in tent communities.

How many people are homeless?

The number of homeless is difficult to find out because estimates vary depending on the method used. Numbers also vary substantially depending on whether a measurement is taken on a single night or is extrapolated to a given year.

Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington State, and Washington, D.C. have the highest rates of homelessness, according to a study released in 2007 by The National Alliance to End Homelessness.

One out of 50—or about 1.5 million—American children are homeless each year, according to a 2009 study by the National Center on Family Homelessness.

What are the greatest causes of homelessness?

For persons in families, the three most commonly cited causes, according to a 2008 U.S. Conference of Mayors study are:
Lack of affordable housing
For singles, the three most commonly cited causes of homelessness are:
Substance abuse
Lack of affordable housing
Mental illness
Are veterans more likely than other populations to be homeless?

Yes. About 40% of homeless men are veterans, although veterans comprise only 34 percent of the general adult male population, according to research on veterans by the National Coalition for Homeless. On any given night, 200,000 veterans are homeless.

What are some other demographics of homeless people?

Racial and ethnic minorities, particularly African-Americans, are overrepresented.
39% are non-Hispanic whites (compared to 76% of the general population)
42% are African-Americans (compared to 11% of the general population)
13% are Hispanic (compared to 9% of the general population)
4% are Native-American (compared to 1% of the general population)
2% were Asian
Note: The above figures are based on a 2006 study by the US Conference of Mayors.

Homelessness continues to be a largely urban phenomenon.
71% are in central cities
21% are in suburbs
9% are in rural areas

People who are homeless often report health problems.

38% report alcohol use problems
26% report other drug use problems
39% report some form of mental health problems (20-25% meet criteria for serious mental illness)
66% report either substance use and/or mental health problems
3% report having HIV/AIDS
26% report acute health problems other than HIV/AIDS such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, or sexually transmitted diseases
46% report chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or cancer

How You Can Help Feed The Homeless?

Please make a donation to help buy a “Villager Solar Oven” for each County in Hawaii.

For those in the 48 Continental States, find a non-profit organization who would willing, to hold fundraiser events, to raise money, to buy this unit for your district.

I will set up an account for your district, so that when the funds have been reached, Paul Munsen, President of Sun Ovens Int’l, will ship the unit to your organization.
